Use of the Czech Press Agency for the purpose of propaganda

Bakalářská práce Využití České tiskové kanceláře k účelu propagandy se zabývá vztahem České tiskové kanceláře, státu a vlády v sedmi obdobích od vzniku Československa v roce 1918 až do roku 1993, kdy Československo nahradily dva nástupnické státy - Česká republika a Slovenská republika. Cílem práce je vymezit status a úlohu České tiskové kanceláře ve vztahu ke státu a vládě, s přihlédnutím k legislativě v každém ze sedmi sledovaných období, za použití kvalitativní obsahové analýzy vybraných zpráv ČTK. Vymezením vztahu České tiskové kanceláře a státu a následně pomocí kvalitativní obsahové analýzy zpráv demonstruji, jak se tento vztah promítal do obsahu zpravodajství agentury. K tomuto účelu je využívána kritická diskurzivní analýza s přihlédnutím k diskurzivně-historickému přístupu. Mimo analýzy sedmdesáti novinových zpráv, práce obsahuje rovněž srovnání dvou vybraných sledovaných období pražského jara a perestrojky konce 80. let, ve kterých jsou porovnávány odlišnosti, nebo podobnosti způsobu jakým byla agentura státem a jeho exekutivou využívána k propagandistickým účelům. Na základě analýzy a srovnání v závěru konstatuji, že agentura plnila vždy svou zpravodajskou úlohu. The aim of the thesis is to delimitate the status and mission of the Czech News Agency in relation to the state and its executive, considering the legislation, in each of the seven chosen periods by conducting a qualitative content analysis of particular news issued by the Czech News Agency. With the use of the delimitation of the status and mission of the Czech News Agency in relation to the state, and the subsequent qualitative content analysis of the news, I demonstrate how this relationship was reflecting on the news content. For this purpose I use the critical discourse analysis in light of the discourse-historical approach. Besides the analysis of seventy news stories from newspapers, this thesis also includes a comparison of the two analysed periods of Prague spring and perestrojka at the end of the 80s. Piracy in the Horn of Africa Region

The diploma thesis is a case study, which focuses on the identification of the key aspects influencing the presence of maritime piracy in the Horn of Africa region and the birth of Somali piracy. In accordance with the research questions, the thesis analyses the main factors that are influencing the birth of maritime piracy and the piracy itself the most. In the historical context, the thesis focuses on the causes for the piracy in the Horn of Africa region, as well as on the similarities between the historical and modern maritime piracy. The thesis also contains a detailed description of all measures taken against the Somali pirates. Based on the evaluation of the engagement of different international actors in the fight against the Somali pirates, the thesis analyses their role in association with the suppression of maritime piracy in the Horn of Africa region, including the legal enforceability, both in the historical context, and the international law, more precisely the national law, possibly international agreements. The analysis conducted in the boundaries of a case study has undoubtedly proven the advantage of an international cooperation while dealing with global issues, even if there are, seemingly insuperable, structural limitations. The thesis concludes that the international...Diplomová práce je případovou studií, která se zaměřuje na identifikaci klíčových aspektů ovlivňujících výskyt námořního pirátství v oblasti Afrického rohu a vzniku pirátství v Somálsku. V souladu s předem stanovenými výzkumnými otázkami analyzuje hlavní faktory, které vznik námořního pirátství a samotné pirátství nejvíce ovlivňují. Práce se v historickém kontextu věnuje příčinám vzniku pirátství v oblasti Afrického rohu a podobnosti historického a novodobého námořního pirátství. Obsahem je rovněž podrobný popis všech mezinárodních protipirátských operací proti somálským pirátům a demonstrace jejich úspěšnosti při potlačení pirátství v oblasti Afrického rohu. Na základě popisu zapojení jednotlivých mezinárodních aktérů do boje proti somálským pirátům vyhodnocuje práce jejich úlohu související s potlačením námořního pirátství v oblasti Afrického rohu, včetně postižitelnosti námořního pirátství podle práva, a to jak v historickém kontextu, tak i podle mezinárodního práva, respektive práva národního, případně mezinárodních smluv. Narrative structures in Indiana Jones film series

Práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci narativních struktur vypozorovatelných napříč filmovou sérií Indiana Jones od prvního (1981) do čtvrtého (2008) filmu série. Analyzuje filmové recenze a zaměřuje se na to, jak jejich autoři zohlednili při hodnocení jednotlivých filmů narativní struktury. Práce se rovněž zabývá sledováním vztahu pozitivní či negativní povahy recenzí a celkovou úspěšností jednotlivých filmů série. Okrajově se práce zabývá přítomností mýtu ve filmové sérii Indiana Jones a hodnotí do jaké míry se promítá do jednotlivých recenzí a divácké recepce. Kvalitativní obsahová analýza recenzí vydaných v periodikách zaměřených na pokrývání filmových aktualit prokázala existenci ustálené narativní struktury napříč filmovou sérií Indiana Jones. Z analýzy a následné komparace jednotlivých recenzí vyplývá, že se filmová kritika shoduje na tom, že byla ve všech dílech série dodržena specifická narativní struktura. Analýza recenzí rovněž prokázala existenci přímého vztahu mezi obsahem jednotlivých recenzí a celkovou úspěšností jednotlivých dílů série.The diploma thesis focuses on identifying narrative structures which can be observed throughout the Indiana Jones film series from the first episode (1981) to the fourth episode (2008). It analyses the film reviews and focuses on the way in which their authors have reflected the narrative structures. The thesis also aims on the analysis of the relationship between the positive or negative nature of the reviews and the overall success of each of the films of the series. Beyond that, the thesis deals with the presence of the myths in the film series Indiana Jones and evaluates to what extent it is being reflected in each of the reviews and in the reception of the audience. The qualitative content analysis of the reviews published in journals that specialise in the coverage of film news has proven the existence of a specific narrative structure that is present throughout the Indiana Jones film series. The analysis and subsequent comparison of the reviews has shown that the film critique consensually agrees that the specific narrative structure was respect in each of the films of the series. Bakalářská práce ,,Využití České tiskové kanceláře k účelu propagandy" se věnuje vztahu České tiskové kanceláře, státu a jeho exekutivy v sedmi obdobích od roku 1918 do roku 1993. V teoretické části vymezuje status a úlohu České tiskové kanceláře ve vztahu ke státu a vládě na základě legislativy v každém ze sedmi sledovaných období. V praktické části pak analyzuje deset náhodně vybraných zpráv informujících o aktivitách vlády ze tří dobových periodik v každém ze sledovaných období. Každá ze zpráv obsahuje alespoň jedno z klíčových slov vláda, strana, ministr nebo stát a je produktem Československé/České tiskové kanceláře. Hlavním cílem práce je jasně vymezit vztah České tiskové kanceláře a státu. Následně pomocí kvalitativní analýzy zpráv demonstrovat jak se tento vztah přímo promítal do obsahu zpravodajství agentury. Například, jak se proměňovala komunikace státu s Českou tiskovou kanceláří a jak se proměňovala komunikace s veřejností prostřednictvím České tiskové kanceláře v každém ze sledovaných období. Práce obsahuje komparaci dvou vybraných sledovaných období (pražského jara a perestrojky), ve kterých jsou porovnávány odlišnosti, nebo podobnosti způsobu jakým byla agentura státem a jeho exekutivou využívána coby státní propaganda.
